Twitter is a very popular social media site and is being used in different ways. Some use it strictly for the social aspect and others use it for business purposes. No matter how you see the benefits of using Twitter, knowing who is ‘following you’ is advantageous.
Knowing more about your followers will help you target the messages you send out in Twitter. Taking the time to learn about who is following you can really help your business grow.
The more followers you have, the better your word of mouth advertising efforts can be. And if you aren’t a “wordy” person, then knowing that your tweets can only be a maximum of 140 characters is nice too!
If you aren’t using Twitter for business purposes, then being able to ‘Unfollow’ or block followers that you feel are undesirable is important to you and/or your family’s Internet security.
Of course there will be the people you definitely want to follow. Check them out by reading their profile and getting to know them better. Follow them for awhile to determine whether or not you wish to continue with reading their tweets or what they are doing or promoting.

The good news is that Twitter itself makes it very easy for you to see who is following you. Twitter has recently changed the format of your home page. There you will find links that allow you to see who you are following and who is following you. Plus you can see all the ‘tweets’ you have made.
To see your Followers:
- Login to your Twitter account
- On the right side of the page near the top you will see links for Tweets, Following, Followers and Listed.
- Click on Followers
- The list of your Followers will then appear in the middle of the page.
- In each person’s field on the right you will have the opportunity to follow them if you aren’t already and you can unfollow them if you so desire.
